AI search and your care home website

You do not need a new website for AI search. You need clear answers where families and answer tools already look: first screen, service pages, FAQs and Google.

Fix the money pages first. Clarity on a phone beats a full rebuild.

This is spoke 3 of 3 under the AI Search hub. Read with how families search with AI and why direct answer content matters.

Context

The job of the website in an AI-shaped journey

AI often frames “what good looks like”. Your site must confirm you match that frame, in seconds, on a phone.

Family already has…
Your page must show…
A list of factors from AI or Google
Care types, location, who you are for
Anxiety about the next step
Phone number, what happens when they call
A shortlist of 2-4 providers
Proof: reviews, real life, honest limits
Fee and process questions
Straight answers or a clear path to them
If the site is vague, they choose the competitor who is not.
Homepage

The 10-second mobile test

Without scrolling more than one thumb
  1. Can a stranger tell what care you offer?
  2. Can they tell where (town, area, or service area)?
  3. Can they call or enquire without hunting?
  4. Is there one plain sentence that answers “is this for people like us?”
Fix order for the homepage
  1. Rewrite the hero so the offer and place sit in the first lines.
  2. Put the phone number in the header and near the first CTA.
  3. Add a short “who we help” block (care types, not slogans).
  4. Link to the two service pages families need most.
  5. Keep lifestyle imagery honest; avoid stock that could be any home.

Home care note: say who comes into the house, areas covered, and how care starts. You have no building to sell on the first screen.

Service pages

Service and care-type pages

Each main care type deserves a page that opens with a direct answer: residential, nursing, dementia, respite, live-in, visiting home care.

On every service page

  • H1 that names the care type and place or audience
  • Answer strip (2-4 sentences) before marketing atmosphere
  • Who it is for / not for (honest fit protects occupancy and reputation)
  • What happens next (call, tour, assessment)
  • FAQ drawn from real first calls
  • Internal links to reviews, contact, and related care types

Question-style H2s that work

  • What does dementia care look like day to day here?
  • How do we start home care in [area]?
  • What should families bring to a tour?
  • How do fees work for private pay?

Write the answer in the first sentence under each H2. Detail can follow.

Local

Location and “near me” pages

  1. One clear page (or section) per main town or catchment you truly serve.
  2. Same name, address and phone as Google Business Profile.
  3. Real local proof: photos, landmarks only if true.
  4. Do not spin thin doorway pages for towns you do not cover.
FAQs

The awkward questions, answered straight

FAQs are prime material for AI extraction and for families at midnight. Prioritise questions you already hear: availability, care needs, start speed, private fees, visits this week.

  • Answer in plain English in the first sentence.
  • Say “it depends” only when you immediately say on what, and how you decide.
  • Match fee language to your private pay stance.
  • Use FAQ schema if your other Learn spokes do.

Technical

Basics that support AI and search

  1. HTTPS, fast enough mobile load, readable font size.
  2. One H1 per page; logical H2s.
  3. Canonical self-references; no accidental noindex on money pages.
  4. XML sitemap submitted in Search Console.
  5. Consistent NAP in footer, contact page and Google.
  6. Article or FAQ schema where you already use it; keep claims true.
  7. Titles and meta that match the first-screen answer.

Wrong schema is worse than none. Optional later: Organisation / LocalBusiness aligned with GBP.

Contact and enquiry path

Phone visible on mobile without opening a menu. Forms only as heavy as you will answer quickly. Promise a response time you can keep. Same story on the page and on the phone.

What not to do

  • Add an “AI ready” badge and change nothing underneath
  • Publish thin location pages for SEO theatre
  • Contradict Google hours, phone or services
  • Hide fees so completely the page feels evasive
  • Fix the website and ignore missed calls

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a full website rebuild for AI search?

Usually no. Start with homepage, main service pages, FAQs and Google alignment. Rebuild only if structure or speed blocks clarity.

Yes, with different proof: areas, carers, continuity and start of care instead of building atmosphere.

Helpful for questions, weak if service pages stay vague. Fix commercial pages first; use articles to deepen answers.

Search Console queries and clicks, more completed enquiries, mystery shops that match the site, and families saying your website made it clear. AI mentions are a bonus, not the only KPI.

Yes. SEO for Care covers classic visibility and question-led content for how families search now.
